Metal Slug 5 really elevated the gameplay experience. By the time this was launched, SNK Playmore was in full swing and this was the first of their breed of Metal Slug game. It managed to retain most of what we adored about the series but introduced a few impressive new features as well. If I had to rate the entire series, 5 would be close to the top.
Where Is Morden?
The timeline of the Metal Slug universe is somewhat convoluted, but Metal Slug 5 tells a genuinely captivating story. It does not showcase Morden or his army from the other four games. Alternatively, we have a new threat that our team of tough guys needs to thwart! The Ptolemaic Army is no joke, and thanks to more cutscenes this time around, I believe that the story has more impact.
Slip & Slide
Metal Slug 5 Game features significantly more new content than 4 did. As a result, it genuinely feels like a whole new game rather than just an update. They incorporated this dash move that allows you to quickly move out of the way of an attack.
This was a significant addition to the series, and while it still has the same run and gun-style gameplay, being able to move like this did change things up significantly, and acclimating to this new mechanic was genuinely essential. One thing that they changed, not for the better, was the transformations.
They added so much to this game that I wonder why they removed all of them, except for the fat one. That is perhaps my most significant complaint, and also, there are not as many branching paths.

While Metal Slug 4 was still a fantastic-looking game, not much had changed from 3. I believe that with Metal Slug 5, they genuinely endeavored to give the game its own identity. The environments look different than we had seen before.
